This week at school has been red ribbon week. At the assemby I saw terrifying images if what drugs can do to the body. It was eye opening, but for the most part I knew all that the drugs could do. It made me sad to think that all these people could do such terrible things to their bodies. The thing that made me really sad was most the kids who do drugs I knew would pay no attention to the assembly. This realization made me ask the question why after learning that drugs are bad for you do they do the drugs? They have to know that drugs are bad for them. They must feel the side affects of the drugs. But the only thing that they choose to remember is the high they get. They also must thing that it will never get that bad for them, and that they aren't addicted to the drugs. Also that they are in control. But in reality the drugs begin to control them, and their lifes are consumed by the drugs. It is really sad, that they think that there is nothing wrong and that they are only hurting themselves. But in reality they are hurting all those around them. I wish that they could realize what they are doing to themselves.
It is also sad that many people use drugs to escape their lifes.
After a red ribbon week like this past week it is hard for me to imagine anyone choosing to do drugs. But people use them because they don't believe that it will hurt them. But in reality it destroyes thier lifes. It isn't a fast destruction it is slow and painful.
