Skiing vs. Snowboarding

Durring the winter season the two main popular winter sports are skiing and snowboarding. For most people one is better than the other. It is a big deal to lots of students. Most kids I know think that snowboarding is cooler, and more fun than skiing. But I am here to proof them wrong. I have been skiing since the age of five. I have never really actually snowboarded, but I like to watch and analyze it. It is so weird to me why so many people think that it is better than skiing. When you ski you have to control two sticks strapped to your feet and two poles. It can be hard to get all four things to go in the right direction, and look good doing it. With a snowboard there is only one board to control. Also skiers can go on a wider variety of terrian. For example snowboarders can't really go down a hill with moggles. To me if you can't go down moggles there is no point to winter sports. It also seems that skiers can perform a wider variety of tricks on halfpipes and jumps. Skiing and boarding both are fun adventerous winter activites, but there is no doubt that skiing is the better sport. Skiing brings such a wonderful sense of freedom and peace. As I ski I feel that I am flying and in total control of my life.

Football, the sport made for men

All of society looks upon football as a manly sport made for only the toughest of men, but it is really? I recently went to a byu football game, and wondered to myself if this game is for men then why are they wearing capris and always slapping each other on the bottom. Really, come on most people don't look at it that way. All they see is tough men with their fancy uniforms on being tough and hitting the other team. Do they really need to wear those tight paints, and shirts with the puffy sleeves? I guess most people would say that it is so the other team can't grap their pants or shirts and that the sleeves are puffy because all of the padding. But really why? We all look upon football as a manly sport with men tackling and hitting each other. But that brings me to another point. Guys tackling each other? If it wasn't looked upon as so tough and cool it is kind of gross. When their is a big pile up in the game all those guys are laying on top of each other. It might sound like I am trying to be gross, but I am not I am just stating the obvious. I love football I really do, but their are just some things about it that I do not understand.
I recently went to a play with my cousins and they were making fun of the main guy actor. They were calling him sissy, and a girl. That kind of mad me made because most people look down upon men who act and dance. They say that they aren't tough men and that most of them are gay. I am a dancer, and I have danced with many guys. I know for a fact that most of them are the toughest guys I know. It takes so much skill and disciplen to dance expecially for guys. So why then does the world look so highly on the football players and thier tight capris, but then shun any guy who is dancing and wearing tights. Really, people need to change their views on the world. It just drives me crazy on how people just think that only the toughest of men are football players. Sure they are tough but others work as hard or harder then them, but still the football players get all the fame and money.
I am not trying to be negative about football, or society in general. I am just think that football isn't the manliest sport there is. It is a fun active physical game, that is fun to watch, but there is more to it then being the toughest and most manly. Which brings me to another point. Why can't girls play football, and I mean not powderpuff football, but the real deal? But that is another blog for another day.

Paper or Plastic?

So I am really upset, because I wrote my blog and it disapeared so I have to write it all over again. So hopefully it will be better this time. So as I was saying in my blog that was earased was Why does it matter that at stores we have the choice of paper or plastic? Everytime I go to the store the bagger always askes would you like paper or plastic. Really does it matter. I could care less, just as long as the groceries get home safe. But I am sure that some people really need the choice, because it does really matter to them. They need the choice to have freedom and the ability to choose in their life. It is so kind of the grocery industry to burden us all the choice of paper or plastic.
If there was to only be one type of bag the best choice would probably be paper. There are so many more things that you can do with paper. You can burn it, draw on it, rip it up, or anything else your heart desires. Some people might say (like my mom) that there needs to be the option of paper and plastic. But if there was only one choice from the beginning would it really matter? The answere is No. It doesn't matter. And Everytime I went to the store I would have to hear the same old stupid question, "paper or plastic".

School Dances what a Joke

I have never really understood why people, especially girls go crazy when they here that a school dance is comings up. Really, is it that big of a deal. All you do is eat dinner then go dance, and most people don't even know how to dance. All they do is that side step motion. If you are going to go to a dance you should actually dance. Then weeks before the dance everyone is worried about who to ask or even if they will get asked. It is hilarious when it is a boys choice dance and all the girls are trying to come up with techniques that will get them asked to the dance. Like there is anything that they can do. Ultimately in the end the choice is the guys choice, and usually they aren't that bright when it comes to dances. Plus the price of photos at the dances are ridicules. Why would you want to pay that much for a picture of you and your date, and in some cases you probably don't want to be there with your date. It is a rip off. Plus in the end what do you do with those pictures look at them for a couple of days then put them away for your scrapbook that you never really get around to doing. I can understand buying pictures for prom or something, but most of the time do you really need them.
Another thing that is really sad is that most girls really get there hopes up to get asked to the dance. And when they don't they fill all bad about themselves and think that nobody likes them. Or you have the girls who are nice to everyone so all the weird kids ask them and in reality that have no desire whatsoever to go. As the homecoming dance is coming up I am sick of hearing about getting asked to the dance. It doesn't matter if you aren't asked. Just think of all the money that is being saved at your expense. In conlcusion school dances are way overrated. They either cause you to waste money on one night that doesn't matter, or sulk in your room because you weren't asked. I can only pray the no one will ask me.
