Love Stories: Wonderful or Nuisance
Never watch a love story when you are feeling lonely. It will only make the situation ten times worse.

What not to do while wearing a black shirt
My first piece of advice is very short. Never open a thing of napkins at work while you have a black shirt on. It gets tons of white fuzzy balls on you. Now you Know.

Hear Ye, Hear Ye
I have decided from henceforth I am going to put random things I learn and well thought out advice on my blog. Well, maybe not well thought out advice but whatever I feel needs to be said. I hope this works!!

My Love of Performing
So this week has been the best week of my life. It is the week that I always look forward to each year. It is my dance performances at BYU for the BYU Young Dancemakers. I love this with all my heart. Why is it though that I love to perform so much?
1. Performing gives me a rush that no other thing could. There are all those people out in the audience there just to watch you. They actually paid money to watch you dance. Just being on stage in a pretty costume with all lights and eyes pointed at you is one of the greatest feelings. This is kind of making me sound conceted with all the eyes on me. I don't mean it like that I just love being in front of people dancing for them and making them happy.
2. When I perform I am giving a little of myself to the audience. I am normally a shy person. But when I dance I open up and let everyone see who I truly am. The best way I express myself is through dancing.
3. I love to be able to jump, leap, skip, hop, and just move my body in anyway. It makes me happy just to move to the music and express myself. When I dance I feel as if I am showing off and using this wonderful body that i was given, and what better way to show appreciation for this then dance.
I love to dance and perform, there is no doubt about it. When I dance I truly become the happiest person in the world. Just being able to express myself and open up to the world is the most wonderful thing.

The Last Month of School
They last month of school is always the hardest to get through. Why is it that it can be so hard?
1. The last month of school is always the best month of the year, but it can be very hard to get through. One reason is that you only have four more weeks of school left and you just want to get everything done with. We just had spring break so we all know how nice it is to not be in school. Everyone is so excited and distracted by thoughts of summer that it is almost impossible to focus on school and homework.
2. Also the end of the school year means end of year tests. Every class has to have a huge test or huge project due, and for the most part it is both. This can be really hard to deal with because it is so hard to concentrate. Plus there is lots of pressure on getting good grades and passing all your classes. The end of the school year is extremely stressful and busy. There is one project after the other, and finals to study for.
The month of May is the best month in the year, but it can be very difficult to get through. Hopefully with the bright outlook of summer I will have the strength to endure to the end.

Board Games
On most Sunday evenings after dinner my family plays boardgames. We always have tons of fun, but sometimes it can get ugly. Why is it that boardgames can either be fun or a families worst nightmare?
1. Most games are all about the competition and winning so you can be number one. Some examples of these games include monopoly, risk, phase ten, well I guess any game has a winner and a loser. This race to be number one can make a game fun with the stresses and friendly competition. Or it can either turn into a name calling, and feelings can get hurt. (this doesn't happen at my house, fortunately.)
2. The biggest factor that influences the outcome of a game is the people playing it. Games are fun when everyone is happy and no one really cares if they win or lose. Then there are people who are either really sore winner who gloats over a win or sore loser accusing everyone of cheating. These type of people ruin any game you play with them.
Board games are lots of fun, but the important thing is not to get caught up in winning or losing. When I play boardgames with my family I am always the official loser and I have learned to lose in style.

The Wonders of Dishwashers
Sunday dinner at my house are always very nice until it is time to do the dishes. My families dishwashers broke along time ago and my parents have been waiting to get another one until they remodel the kitchen. So the only thing close to a dish washer at my house is me and my brother. So I am going to analyze why life is awful without a dishwasher.
1. Without a dishwasher it takes twice as long to finish the dishes. first you have to rinse all the leftover food then make a ginormous stack of dishes. Then you have to wash each fork, spoon, knife, plate, and glass separately and lets not forget all the greasy pots and pans. With a dishwasher it is just so simple to stick it all in put in the dish soap, and then push a view buttons.
2. While you are spending all this time doing the dishes a lot happens. For instance tonight my sister and I ended up doing the dishes. Both my grandparents were over for dinner and with both my grandmas there it was impossible to leave the dishes to later and just sit and talk. So we missed out of all the conversation.
Doing dinner dishes especially Sunday dishes is never fun without a dishwasher. It can turn a delightful dinner into a nightmare.

Trials
After I read Whitney's and Lindsay's blogs it really got me thinking about trials and why bad things happen to good people. And if this blogs sounds religious it is probably because I had a seminary lesson on it on Thursday, and I have been thinking alot about trials. So first of all I think that trials are just part of life. Bad things happen and you have no control over. In some cases you cause bad things to happen to yourself, and that is never fun. But there are many good people out there who have bad things happen to them when they are trying to do their best. An example of this is Lindsay getting in a car accident. Lindsay is a wonderful person and is always trying her best to do what is right but that didn't keep her from getting into an accident. I believe that we have trials so we can learn and grow from them. If bad things didn't happen I think that people would never change, and people wouldn't really know what is good in life. No one really likes trials and they make life very difficult at times but we have them for a reason, and no matter what we will always be able to handle them.

virtual reality vs. the real thing
So a couple of weeks ago my brothers finally bought a Wii. The we has many games that are sport related. There is tennis, golf, baseball, boxing, and bowling, with these games you can either really get into playing them or just sit on the couch. So why is it that many people would rather sit on the couch and play a fake tennis game rather than playing the real thing. It think that the number one reason is that people are lazy and don't want to get off the couch. It is so much harder to get up and ready to play a game rather then touching a few buttons on the remote. Also some people aren't physically capable to go out and play a real game of tennis. So they next best thing is a video game. Another thing about video games is that you can play a game all by yourself. When you play baseball on the wii you don't need a whole baseball team. All you need is the remote. I can see why people would rather play video games then go out side and play, but personally I think I will stay with the real thing.

New Neighbors
A common occurrence in my coldesac in new neighbors. Every time someone new moves in a great excitement fills the coldesac. why is it that people are so fascinated by new neighbors? Recently in the house behind me a new family moved in. At first we didn't know anything about them so my family (namely me) would watch out the back window. For me personally I get so excited about about new neighbors because they are so mysterious. You don't know anything about them. They could either be millionaires or some con artist on the run. I wouldn't be surprised if that happened in my neighborhood. Not only are new people mysterious they can add a whole different dimension to the neighborhood. For example some new people moved in a house a house down from my house. I used to spend a lot a time down at that end of the coldesac. Now that their are new people there and they don't really care for my I mainly stay at my house, and never walk past that house on the side walk. (I know this sounds stupid, and rude. I can't help it they scare me.) You never know how neighbors are going to change the surroundings. They can either make things better or much much worse. Another example of this is when we had undercover cops in my neighborhood watching the house next to me. My mom wouldn't let me stay home alone while they lived there. (all these stories make my neighborhood sound scary, it isn't that bad. How could my family lives here.) New neighbors I guess you could say are either exciting, or nerve racking. You never who they are or how they will affect the neighborhood.

Strength in Numbers
It is often said that there is strength in numbers. And for the most part it is talking about people, and the strength in the number of people. Why is it that there is strength in numbers, or is there really strength in numbers? I personally find that when I am in a group of people I am more willing to try new things, and I am not as scared. I am actually the type of person who doesn't like to do anything alone. So I prefer to do things with others. I don't think most people like to do things alone, so they find strength in others. When more people are around it is easier to feel safer and more secure. there is more than one person looking out for your safety. If you think of it if you were ever stranded on an island would you do better with just two people or 10. I personally would feel much better with ten people. there are more people looking for solutions, hunting for food, and it wouldn't be as lonely. People find strength in numbers, because you have more ideas and physically you have more strength. If you want to dig a ditch my chance, it is more likely to get done faster. Also if you have to solve a mental problem there are more people with ideas and solutions. When people stick to together it is easier to overcome things, but when it is all about fending for yourself things can become difficult. Having more people to support you, look after you, and help you can make any situation in life easier. So whoever said that there was strength in numbers was definitely right.

Cake
There aren't that many people in the world who don't like cake. It is almost a sin if you do not like cake. What is it about this deliciouse dessert that makes it so loveable? Cake comes in many varieties; you have chocolate, carrot, yellow, cheese, angle food, ice cream, texas sheet, and I could go. People love to be able to choose, and the variety is so large that if a person doesn't like chocolate cake they have something else to choose from. Also cake can be eaten at any time in the day. It is good for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It never gets old. One thing I like about cake is that it used to celebrate many wonderful occasions. We eat cake at birthdays, weddings, parties, and just plain dessert after dinner. When I think of cakes it reminds me of all the wonderful happy times in my life. But I would have to say the best reason for loving cake is the sweet taste. When someone is in a bad mood all they need to do is take a bite of a soft, delicious, scrumptious, sweet, loaded with sugar cake. Cake will make anyone smile.

Fondue
For dinner tonight my sister made my family fondue. I have never had fondue before, and I thought that it would be a fun new experience. I never new all the different things you could eat with fondue. There is bread, carrots, chicken, beef, broccoli, and whatever your heart desires. Then if you want Chocolate Fondue you have to have strawberries, marshmallows, brownies, pineapple, and anything that goes good with chocolate. So when one thinks of fondue they usually think of wealthier people eating it with their friends and having a grand ol time. But it turns out that fondue originated from the poor people in Europe. They would melt the different cheeses over the fire, and then dip their stale bread in it. It is funny that something and the poor used could become such a delicacy to the wealthy. How though did this come to be? Now days instead of dipping stale bread into fondue you need to buy the more expensive almost exotic bread. And instead of bread we dip lots of other things that when added up can become expensive. Also back when fondue was first made it was probably something easy and fast to do. However now it is very slow. My family started dinner at 6:15 and got done eating at 9:00. That was the longest meal I have ever had. First we had the cheese fondue, the some chicken and beef in peanut oil, and last the chocolate fondue. It took along time to prepare and then it was quite difficult to eat. So this meal that use to be fast and for the poor has become a slow relaxing meal for the wealthy.

Middle Names
Almost everyone in the United States has a middle name. The exception in some cases are girls who when married take the maden name as their middle name. To me middle names can be very special. I treasure my middle name, and love to write out my full name Jessica Lynne Philbrick. It brings ellegance into any name. And to most people middle names are so special. I think that one thing that makes a middle name special is because most of the time they come from past relatives. Both my sisters have middle names that were my great grandma's names. My oldest brothers middle name is my dads name, and clints middle name is my grandfathers name. My middle name Lynne is also my mothers middle name. It carries on family legacy. Another thing that makes middle names unique is that they make a person unique. There are tons of Jessicas out in the world, but how many Jessica Lynne's are there. There might be a few Jessica Lynn's but not Jessica Lynne's. A middle name gives an extra touch of character to anyone it belongs to. I think that middle names are a wonderful thing. They bring to life a persons name, and make a each a little different.

3 day weekends
Every Highschool student looks forward to a long weekend. Why are these weekends so relaxing? Well I am going to look into things that make them so nice. First of all a long weekend means one less day at school at that is always awesome. Even though We all Love school so much, it is nice to get away from it. Second, it gives and extra day to do homework, or in others case hang out with friends. Its a nice extra day to make sure that you have everything done that you need for school. The last thing that makes a long weekend so nice is that it is a stress reliever. I know that Sunday nights can be really stressful, because you want to make sure that you have all your homework done, and everything is ready for the up comming week. Having an extra day to get ready for yourself can really take away the stress from the up comming week. I love long weekends, and they make my life a little better.

Grease, Your the one that I want
There is a new reality show were people vote for the Danny and Sandy they want to be in the new broadway play Grease. There is one guy in it named Jason Cylia trying out for Danny. My family has some personal ties with Jason. We have danced with him, and we are somewhat realated to him. So the purpose of this blog is to analyze why Jason is not going to be Danny. First of all Jason is very much a pop artist and he doens't fit the part of Danny. He is concited with himself and he knows that he is a really good singer, and sometimes that takes away from his singing. Second Jason doesn't look the part of Danny. He has sorter hair, and it is spiked. The Danny I remember had longer combed over hair. Plus Jason hasn't really been in character. He isn't acting like he is in the 50's. It is all about the pop music, and he hasn't really shown his full potential. He is to caught up in looking good. The last reason why he is not going to be the next Danny is, because he was wearing a really ugly purple shirt and Jacket.

Red Heads
Many people say that red heads are fiesty people. Well I would have to say that all the red heads I now have all been really nice people. I have not yet met a mean red head. People must think that just because their head is so bright that they must have a wild personality. I don't really think that their red hair has anything to do with the way they act. My dad had the reddest of hair when he was younger. It has faded now and also has some grey, however he has the most tender personality. He isn't fiesty or really bossy. Also Audrey Gunnell has red hair. She has the sweetest personality. She is friendly, and sometimes she can be shy. When I think of red heads I think of really sweet, fun people. I don't think of fiesty or mean people. All the red heads I now are really amazing people. I wish that I could have had red hair.
Dinner Dishes
*this blog was meant for the week of jan 21-27, but when I wrote it it did no post. So here it is a couple weeks late, but at least it is posted.
No one likes to do Sunday dishes especially on Sundays. Tonight was supposed to be my night Sunday dishes, but I was most fortunate to get out of doing them. Instead of me doing them my older brother Robert's girlfriend Kim did them. I was very much shocked when I found this news out, because this was only her third time to out house. So now I am going to analyze why she was permitted to do dishes. The reason I got out of them was because I had to go to new beginnings for young women's so that got my parents and me out of the house. If my mom were home she wouldn't allowed Kim to do most of the dishes. Kim is a very nice person. She is always happy and willing to help with anything. For she first started out helping my older sister Jenny with the dishes. Then my older sister who just got an ipod shuffle wanted to put some music on it. So she needed my brother's laptop and he needed her to show him what songs to put on it. So this got Jenny out of the kitchen leaving Kim all alone. I think this would have been really rude, but Kim is such a nice person that she wouldn't care. Jenny and Robby being somewhat considerate people tried to get Clint to help. But we all know Clint and he isn't one to just up and volunteer to help with dishes. He was otherwise occupied with the x-games. So in the end Kim ended up doing most of my dinner dishes and I am very much obliged.

Drill Team
Some people might think that drill is a big joke. I have to admit that I used to one of these people. I always thought that drill was stupid and such an easy sport, with these girly girls who wore tight skimpy outfit. I was very wrong however. Recently I had the opportunity to be apart of the dance company at the school and participate in their drill competition. I thought that it was going to be really stupid. I wasn't really excited at first. I had to come early in the mornings and stay late after school. For one practice we went to uvsc and wached a competition. All the other schools were really amazing. They were all so uniform and perfect. Plus the stuff they did wasn't easy at all. I was really impressed and my impressions of drill started to change. It takes a lot of hard work to do drill. Not only do you have to practice the routine over and over. you have to have every element of that routine uniform. All the feet and hads have to match perfectly or the judges will mark you down. They are really picky. Plus when you put that much precision and energy into your dance it can be really tiring. There were a couple times that I thought I was going to throw up because I was working so hard. Drill team is not a bunch of ditzy girls, it is made up of really smart hard working girls. It can be just as hard or even harder as any other sport. Plus it isn't just a bunch a people running around with a ball it is true art.

Sit in the corner and cry day
When something stressful happens in life why is it that durring that time everything else has to go wrong. It all seems to happen at once. For the most part it is tolerable, but it would be so much better if it all came in small segmants. But why does it all have to pile up at once. For example this week at school is the end of the term. So all the teachers think that they have to give finals, and know I have a million test and absolutely no time to study due to work, and dance. I would usually have more time, but this dance thing that i am in has a performance on friday so it is practice, practice, practice. It all seems to happen at once. One reason I think this is so is because teacher think that their class should be top priority and don't consider everything else. Sometimes I think it would be nice if some teacher gave test the week before the end of the semster. Just spread the stress out. High school student have so much to deal with it can be very hard at times. Also I think that it is given to us so we can learn how to handle pressure, and stress. This can be a good learning experience, but it can also be bad for students health. It is days and weeks like this that I want to sit in a corner and cry. Sometimes if I do this it realises a lot of pressure, and I can get my work done. Life can be hard and sometimes everything bad seems to happen all at once. It can be hard to deal with, but somehow everything is accomplished. It takes a lot of learning and pressure, but it can be a good experience. (don't ask me how, but in the long run I know it will pay off) So here I am writing this blog which is necessary for my grade when I should be studying for the five more test I have this week. Maybe after I cry in a corner I will know where to begin.

Why am I so shy?
I have realized through my experiences in highschool that I am a really shy person. There are different things that make me shy, and I think that I will explore these things. I really like to watch people, and just observe different things about this. Most of the time I would rather do this then talk to people. Lots of times I don't feel that I have anything to say to people also. I can never just think of anything creative, and I am afraid of sounding stupid. So I just stand back and be a shy person. I am only shy around people I don't know. When I am around my friends I can be wild and crazy. I am funny, and I know all the right things to stay. But when one person comes around me that I don't know I automatically hide in my own little shell. I am afraid of being rejected and looked down upon. So I don't really talk unless I want to, but most of the time I just nod and smile. I have tried harder lately to be more outgoing. But it can be hard to me, because I don't really like to just talk and talk I like to watch and observe people. I think that I am shy is because I am afraid of being rejected by others. I know that my friends wont turn me away so I am not shy around them. I like to meet new people, it just takes me a long time to get to know them, and not be shy.

I don't mean to offend anyone but.....
The other day I read something and at the end of it is said I hope I don't offend anyone, I know it might sound stupid but this was somewhat hurtful to me. So I asked the question if someone knows what they are going to say might offend anyone why do they say it. It is just another excuss for justifing being mean. I know that their are some instances where it is oppropiate to say this. But most of the time I really don't like it when people say this. It is kind of like saying just kidding when you really mean it. If you know that you are going to offend someone you probably shouldn't say it anyways. like of the movie Bambi "if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all."
