Board Games

On most Sunday evenings after dinner my family plays boardgames. We always have tons of fun, but sometimes it can get ugly. Why is it that boardgames can either be fun or a families worst nightmare?
1. Most games are all about the competition and winning so you can be number one. Some examples of these games include monopoly, risk, phase ten, well I guess any game has a winner and a loser. This race to be number one can make a game fun with the stresses and friendly competition. Or it can either turn into a name calling, and feelings can get hurt. (this doesn't happen at my house, fortunately.)
2. The biggest factor that influences the outcome of a game is the people playing it. Games are fun when everyone is happy and no one really cares if they win or lose. Then there are people who are either really sore winner who gloats over a win or sore loser accusing everyone of cheating. These type of people ruin any game you play with them.
Board games are lots of fun, but the important thing is not to get caught up in winning or losing. When I play boardgames with my family I am always the official loser and I have learned to lose in style.

The Wonders of Dishwashers

Sunday dinner at my house are always very nice until it is time to do the dishes. My families dishwashers broke along time ago and my parents have been waiting to get another one until they remodel the kitchen. So the only thing close to a dish washer at my house is me and my brother. So I am going to analyze why life is awful without a dishwasher.
1. Without a dishwasher it takes twice as long to finish the dishes. first you have to rinse all the leftover food then make a ginormous stack of dishes. Then you have to wash each fork, spoon, knife, plate, and glass separately and lets not forget all the greasy pots and pans. With a dishwasher it is just so simple to stick it all in put in the dish soap, and then push a view buttons.
2. While you are spending all this time doing the dishes a lot happens. For instance tonight my sister and I ended up doing the dishes. Both my grandparents were over for dinner and with both my grandmas there it was impossible to leave the dishes to later and just sit and talk. So we missed out of all the conversation.
Doing dinner dishes especially Sunday dishes is never fun without a dishwasher. It can turn a delightful dinner into a nightmare.

Trials

After I read Whitney's and Lindsay's blogs it really got me thinking about trials and why bad things happen to good people. And if this blogs sounds religious it is probably because I had a seminary lesson on it on Thursday, and I have been thinking alot about trials. So first of all I think that trials are just part of life. Bad things happen and you have no control over. In some cases you cause bad things to happen to yourself, and that is never fun. But there are many good people out there who have bad things happen to them when they are trying to do their best. An example of this is Lindsay getting in a car accident. Lindsay is a wonderful person and is always trying her best to do what is right but that didn't keep her from getting into an accident. I believe that we have trials so we can learn and grow from them. If bad things didn't happen I think that people would never change, and people wouldn't really know what is good in life. No one really likes trials and they make life very difficult at times but we have them for a reason, and no matter what we will always be able to handle them.

virtual reality vs. the real thing

So a couple of weeks ago my brothers finally bought a Wii. The we has many games that are sport related. There is tennis, golf, baseball, boxing, and bowling, with these games you can either really get into playing them or just sit on the couch. So why is it that many people would rather sit on the couch and play a fake tennis game rather than playing the real thing. It think that the number one reason is that people are lazy and don't want to get off the couch. It is so much harder to get up and ready to play a game rather then touching a few buttons on the remote. Also some people aren't physically capable to go out and play a real game of tennis. So they next best thing is a video game. Another thing about video games is that you can play a game all by yourself. When you play baseball on the wii you don't need a whole baseball team. All you need is the remote. I can see why people would rather play video games then go out side and play, but personally I think I will stay with the real thing.

New Neighbors

A common occurrence in my coldesac in new neighbors. Every time someone new moves in a great excitement fills the coldesac. why is it that people are so fascinated by new neighbors? Recently in the house behind me a new family moved in. At first we didn't know anything about them so my family (namely me) would watch out the back window. For me personally I get so excited about about new neighbors because they are so mysterious. You don't know anything about them. They could either be millionaires or some con artist on the run. I wouldn't be surprised if that happened in my neighborhood. Not only are new people mysterious they can add a whole different dimension to the neighborhood. For example some new people moved in a house a house down from my house. I used to spend a lot a time down at that end of the coldesac. Now that their are new people there and they don't really care for my I mainly stay at my house, and never walk past that house on the side walk. (I know this sounds stupid, and rude. I can't help it they scare me.) You never know how neighbors are going to change the surroundings. They can either make things better or much much worse. Another example of this is when we had undercover cops in my neighborhood watching the house next to me. My mom wouldn't let me stay home alone while they lived there. (all these stories make my neighborhood sound scary, it isn't that bad. How could my family lives here.) New neighbors I guess you could say are either exciting, or nerve racking. You never who they are or how they will affect the neighborhood.
